Recap from the Modern Manufacturing and Production Planning Workshop at Southern Cross Ceramics (3 September 2025)

Thank you to Matt Venn and the Southern Cross Ceramics team for hosting the Modern Manufacturing and Production Planning Workshop with Barry McCarthy.

The day began with an outstanding tour of the Southern Cross Ceramics site. Having been on their Lean journey for many years, the team has built an impressive operation. They were open and generous in sharing how they engage their people and problem-solve for continuous improvement.

We then moved into the training room for an intensive workshop. With participants from Southern Cross Ceramics, Mecca, Australian Red Cross Lifeblood, Note Printing Australia, and Sutton Tools, the conversation was both engaging and practical. Not only did attendees benefit from Barry’s expertise, but they also had the opportunity to share their own knowledge and learn from one another.

The day concluded with certificates of attendance and a group photo to mark the occasion. We look forward to welcoming this group back for more workshops in the Change by Design program.
