EVENT OVERVIEW
The AME will be hosting Chris Warner for the launch of his book ‘Flick The Switch.’ The book is a first of its kind. Very little has been written about how the Lean methodology is being applied within the mining industry. It was for this exact reason that Chris put pen to paper. Chris has documented his experiences over the past 10-years teaching and deploying Lean thinking within the beautiful, rugged landscaped of North Western Australia.
Chris will be sharing his journey transitioning from high precision Lean manufacturing to bulk commodity mining. He will be providing insights into many of his in-field observations. This will include the five principles he believes are essential to progressing the mining industry from good to great.
PRESENTER
Chris Warner lives with his family in Perth, Western Australia. He is a Productivity Engineer, Author, and Speaker with twenty-four years experience in manufacturing and mining. He has qualifications in Industrial Engineering and Marketing from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.
Chris was trained at the Toyota Motor Company on all things Lean. He further developed his Lean skills while working for various multinational automotive parts supply companies. These included the supply of high precision products ‘just-in-time’ to companies such as Toyota, Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz, General Motors, Bentley and Ford. He has designed and applied Lean principles and techniques in China, Romania, Germany, United Kingdom, Malaysia, South Africa and now Australia.
Chris has been working within the mining industry for the past eleven-years, helping promote Lean thinking. He has travelled over five-hundred-thousand-kilometres to many different mining, rail, and port operations, learning and teaching the principles of Lean. He continues to work within mining as a passionate advocate of the value of people and the role they play in creating a culture of continuous improvement.
