Change of Venue for AME Conference 2018
The AME Executive Board wishes to announce that due to circumstances beyond our control we have had to change the venue for our 2018 Leading Through Excellence and Innovation Conference. In place of the William Angliss Conference Centre the event will now take place at the Melbourne Zoo, a venue which is conveniently located a short drive away from the Melbourne Airport and is close to the City centre.
Melbourne Zoo presents us with a beautiful backdrop for our 2018 conference. The event will take place in the Leopard Room overlooking the Zoo’s magnificent manicured lawns and gardens, and within a lion’s roar of the big cat enclosure. The Royal Park Train Station and Tram Stop is only two minutes’ walk from the conference room. All day parking has been organised for those attendees who choose to drive.
For those that require it, Four-star accommodation is available at the The Larwill Studio, which is where the conference ‘Welcome Dinner’ will be hosted. There is also accommodation available to suit all styles and budgets in the surrounding areas of North Melbourne and Parkville.
As a part of the conference, Delegates will now have the opportunity to tour the Zoo and see firsthand areas where Lean has been successfully deployed. You will hear from the Zoo’s passionate and committed staff about how Lean can and has been successfully applied in a non-manufacturing environment.
Over the last three years Zoo’s Victoria has deployed Lean thinking to improve its various operations. They identified the need for a new approach to help them improve the operations of their three zoos, and more specifically the fight against species extinction. After much consideration Lean was initially chosen as the best way for the zoo to change their culture and equip their staff with the required skills and tools to improve their overall performance. Since implementing Lean, the projects undertaken at Zoos Victoria have shown how koala’s, ducks and even elephants can benefit from the use of structured problem solving.
Registration for the Conference is now open and seats are filling up fast, we encourage you to register early to ensure that you don’t miss out. With a great new venue, one guaranteed to take the relaxed style of our 2018 conference to a whole new level, and a long list of high quality local and international key note speakers, this is a conference not to be missed. We look forward to seeing you there.
