Recognising Thought Leadership
The 2017 AME Leading Through Excellence Conference will welcome two 2016 Shingo Research and Professional Publication Award Winners. These awards were created to recognize and promote research and writing that advances the body of knowledge regarding lean and operational excellence. The Shingo Institute is most interested in recognizing thought leadership.
NORBERT MAJERUS
Lean Champion at Goodyear, Book Author & Shingo Prize Winner
Beginning in 2005, Norbert has implemented a principles-based lean product development process at the three global innovation centers of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. For nearly a decade he has been Goodyear’s lean champion in research and development.
Norbert, born and raised in Luxembourg, has a Master’s degree in Chemistry from the Universitaet des Saarlandes, Saarbruecken, Germany, and has worked most of the disciplines in the Goodyear innovation centers in Luxembourg and Akron.
Norbert recently published his first book “Lean-driven Innovation,” and he has spoken at many conferences in the USA and other countries. The book was awarded the Shingo Research award in 2016. The Goodyear R&D organization received the AME Excellence award in 2016 under Norbert’s leadership.
Majerus was awarded the 2016 Shingo Research and Professional Publication Award for his book, “Lean-Driven Innovation.”
MICHAEL BREMER
Global Lean Expert, Book Author and Shingo Prize Winner
Michael Bremer has more than 30 years of experience in productivity improvement. As the vice president of the Cumberland Group, Bremer works with leadership teams to assess the effectiveness of internal improvement initiatives and co-leads internal process improvement groups working on critical organizational projects.
He also serves as the executive director of Chicagoland Lean Enterprises Consortium helping companies learn from one another on how to more effectively improve performance.
He previously sat on the national board for the Association of Manufacturing Excellence (AME) and is currently chair of the AME Manufacturing Excellence Awards Council.
Bremer was awarded the 2016 Shingo Research and Professional Publication Award for his book, “How to Do a Gemba Walk.”
